Chairman of the Board of Directors: Sabin Boily
Mr. Boily is President and CEO of Valeo Management L.P. He holds a bachelor’s degree in physical engineering from the École Polytechnique de Montréal and a master’s and a doctorate in energy and material sciences from the INRS, the National Institute of Scientific Research at the Université du Québec. In addition, he pursued postdoctoral research in metallurgy at the Université Laval. He has presented more than one hundred articles and talks.
Mr. Boily is involved in technology transfer and commercialization for added-value technologies and is also a business consultant for technology companies. He is particularly attentive to the protection of intellectual property for the technologies he helps bring to market. He specializes mainly in materials (e.g., high-efficiency catalysts), renewable energy (e.g., solar, fuel cells, wind turbines and biomass), the environment (e.g., green chemistry), nanotechnology, science and technology ethics, and the promotion of science and technology, particularly among young people.
As president and CEO at Valeo Management L.P., Mr. Boily is responsible for the commercialization of intellectual property for Rival (the limited partnership for which UQAR holds the intellectual property rights) and for Réal Fournier. He supports the company in all of its efforts to protect its intellectual property and assists UQAR-ISMER in its research and development projects to ensure that the technology remains at the cutting edge.
President and CEO: Serge Bujold
Mr. Serge Bujold has more than 35 years of experience in business management, business development, marketing strategy and the development and implementation of management systems. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated his ability to design business models that meet corporate goals and to make those models operational by directly managing their implementation.
Mr. Bujold has held many business management positions. He has been coordinating manager during the implementation of complex management systems that have had a large influence on business processes within the organization and, often, in the industry. For 20 years, he held various management positions at DMR Consulting and at EDS (SHL Systemhouse) before becoming an entrepreneur by founding his own consulting firm in 1997.
Vice-president for Research and Development: Réal Fournier
Mr. Réal Fournier was a research professional at UQAR where he directed the UQAR-ISMER aquaculture facility. He is an expert in aquaculture and in the production of microalgae and the developer of the production technology used at NutrOcean. He established the concept, supervised the fabrication of the equipment and the optimization of the process, and directed the numerous research projects that have led to the current efficiency of the process. As the inventor of the microalgae concentration system, he directed every step leading up to the submission of the patent applications.
Mr. Fournier has been very active in aquaculture technology transfer for more than 35 years, as reflected by the many papers he has presented. He is a specialist in the design and operation of microalgae production systems and various forms of aquaculture production and farming.

- Development of a process and apparatus for dialysis culture of marine microalgae (Canadian patent No. 1,170,596).
- Development of a fish hatchery technique for the production of giant scallop larvae and juveniles.
- Development of a technique for conditioning and housing sea urchins, as well as an indoor rearing pond system.
- Development of an optimized procedure for the semi-continuous culture of marine microalgae.
Production Director: Bernadette Lagacé
Trained as a biologist, Ms. Bernadette Lagacé has worked in aquaculture for more than 25 years. She has participated in many research projects in which microalgae were used as food sources. She is well acquainted with the strict quality requirements for the production and use of microalgae.
Ms. Lagacé has worked in many places in Canada and the United States, and is presently Production Manager at NutrOcean.
